AC BRIDE LAURA & MATTHEW
9th August 2019
Golden toned, twinkling lights, and timeless simplicity, Laura and Matthew said “I do” amongst the rich charm of ‘Garden City’ Toowoomba, QLD. The enchanting bride wore our classic Alyssa Fitted dress purchased from our very own Anna Campbell Melbourne Flagship Boutique, paired with our sparkling Belle Headpiece and Alyssa Veil. Laura was the quintessential Anna Campbell bride.
A Modern Meet… Laura works as a Psychologist, and Matthew is a Chemical Engineer. We met through Tinder 5 years ago. We spoke for 1 week, and then had our first date. It was both our first ever Tinder date. We both love being outdoors, scuba diving, travelling, binge watching Netflix series, and spending time with each other and our families. We are big dog lovers and cannot wait to have our own. We are also hopeless romantics and always make time for date nights, and trying new things together.
The Proposal… Matt emailed me at work and suggested we do date night that evening, I agreed and didn’t think too much of it. We got take away sushi from our favourite place, and had a picnic at Kangaroo Point cliffs (where we had our first kiss on our first date), and Matt got down on one knee, in front of the beautiful Brisbane city lit up at night, and asked me to marry him. I was incredibly shocked and said “oh my god” for about 5 minutes before responding yes!
Memorable Moments… The special moments for us were reading our vows to each other, and our first dance – we did a fully choreographed routine with lifts in it. Another special aspect was that my family had traveled all the way from England, and my cousin whom lives in England, was one of my bridesmaids. I hadn’t seen them for 5 years so having them there really made it special.
Finding ‘The One’… I tried on the Alyssa dress at the second wedding dress shop I visited, so thought I should keep looking as I was so early into the process. I knew it was the dress when a year later I could not stop thinking about it, no other dress compared. I purchased it from the Anna Campbell store in Melbourne. I initially tried it on at Babushka Ballerina in Brisbane, and a memorable moment was having Anna herself there to style the dress for me with the veil and headpiece.
Pearls of Wisdom for future Anna Campbell brides… Go into your wedding dress shopping with an open mind, sometimes the dress you have pictured in your head is often not the dress you end up with. Try on as many different styles as you can, and make sure you try on any accessories at the time as well.

Venue: Gabbinbar Homestead — Gabbinbar has so much character in the one venue. You have the romantic pavilion, the woods, the beautiful gardens, the lights throughout the trees at night, and then the beautiful vintage homestead with multiple rooms. It is so romantic, and has endless possibilities for photographs. No event planner was hired, we utilized the wedding planners at Gabbinbar Homestead for any questions. All styling was done by Laura.
