An Exclusive Q&A on the Making of the Bloom Collection
We sat down with Anna, the creative visionary behind the Bloom Collection, to dive into the inspiration, design process, and sustainability behind this exquisite new range. Here’s a glimpse into what makes Bloom so special.
The design process for Bloom was incredibly thoughtful and detail-oriented. We began by exploring different themes and concepts, with "Bloom" emerging as a central idea representing renewal and new beginnings. We started with sketches, experimenting with various fabrics, textures, and forms. Each gown went through multiple iterations, ensuring that it would not only look beautiful but also feel amazing to wear. - Anna
Q1: What inspired the creation of the Bloom Collection?
Anna: The Bloom Collection was inspired by the beauty of transformation, much like the way flowers bloom into their full glory. I’ve always been inspired by flowers—they are feminine yet strong, they carry deep meaning, and they embody everything I strive to bring into the Anna Campbell brand. It was only a matter of time before a collection like this took shape. I wanted to capture that moment of magic when a bride steps into their gown and truly feels like they’re blossoming into the best version of themselves. Being unique and feeling true to who they are is what being an Anna Campbell bride is all about, and the Bloom Collection reflects that perfectly.
Q2: How does the Bloom Collection differ from your previous collections?
Anna: Every collection we create is special, but with Bloom, we really wanted to emphasise versatility and personalization. This collection offers a range of silhouettes and design elements that can be customised to fit each bride’s personal style. From detachable sleeves to mix-and-match separates, Bloom is all about giving brides the freedom to create a look that feels uniquely theirs. The fabrics and embellishments are also more varied, with a mix of soft tulle, intricate lace, and hand-beaded details that give each piece its own character.
Q3: Can you tell us more about the design process behind the Bloom Collection?
Anna: The design process for Bloom was incredibly thoughtful and detail-oriented. A significant part of our process was designing our own fabrics to provide our brides with something truly exclusive. For instance, in our Camille gown, every line of beading was meticulously crafted to embrace the body’s curves. These carefully considered details ensure that each piece in the Bloom collection feels fresh, romantic, and timeless, allowing every bride to feel their most beautiful and confident on their wedding day.
Q4: What are some of the standout pieces in the Bloom Collection?
Anna: It’s challenging to choose just a few favourites, but there are definitely some standout pieces in the Bloom Collection. The ‘Billie’ gown is a particular highlight, featuring a light pink corseted design that’s perfect for the daring bride; it’s definitely one of our most show-stopping pieces. The ‘Forrest’ topper is another favourite, with its long, draped sleeves adorned with intricate beaded 3D lace. It exudes timeless charm and elegance, making a statement without being overwhelming. Then there’s the ‘Iris’ gown, which is adorned with cascading layers of soft tulle and organza for an ethereal romance and feminine look. Interestingly, during the creative process, Iris was initially the least favourite among the team. However, as we refined the design and added detailed embellishments, it grew into a piece we now truly adore. This shows how the creative process can transform and elevate a design, revealing beauty in unexpected ways.
I hope that every bride who wears a gown from the Bloom Collection feels a sense of joy and confidence. Our goal is to make them feel like the most beautiful version of themselves on their special day. - Anna
Q5: Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in fashion. How does the Bloom Collection address this?
Anna: Sustainability is a key focus for us at Anna Campbell. With the Bloom Collection, we’ve upheld our commitment to minimising waste. All our off-cut fabrics are either recycled or repurposed with Silk & Stitch. Our made-to-order process also plays a significant role in reducing waste. One piece that embodies this commitment is the Clementine mini, crafted from soft pink silk dupion fabric sourced from dead-stock materials. Additionally, the versatility of our pieces—like mix-and-match separates—allows brides to re-wear parts of their wedding look for other occasions, extending the life of each garment.
Q6: What do you hope brides will feel when they wear a gown from the Bloom Collection?
Anna: I hope that every bride who wears a gown from the Bloom Collection feels a sense of joy and confidence. Our goal is to make them feel like the most beautiful version of themselves on their special day. Whether they’re walking down the aisle or dancing at the reception, I want them to feel comfortable, radiant, and uniquely them. That’s the magic we strive to create with each piece.
Q7: What advice would you give to brides currently searching for their perfect wedding dress?
Anna: My advice would be to stay true to yourself. It’s easy to get caught up in trends or what others think you should wear, but your wedding dress should be a reflection of who you are. Don’t be afraid to explore different styles and take your time finding a gown that feels right for you. And most importantly, enjoy the process! It’s a special journey, and the right dress is out there waiting for you.
Q8: Lastly, what’s next for Anna Campbell after the Bloom Collection?
Anna: We’re always looking ahead to the next creative challenge! While I can’t reveal too much just yet, we’re already working on our next collection, which will continue to push the boundaries of bridal design while staying true to the Anna Campbell aesthetic. There’s so much to be excited about, and I can’t wait to share more in the coming months, but for now, let’s embrace the exquisite beauty of Bloom!
