Annie & Daniel

Wedding Location | Stonehaven, Victoria Wedding Date | February 12th 2021

This gorgeous Australian couple managed to sneak their wedding ceremony in just hours before a Victorian snap lock down earlier this year and we are so excited to be able to share their beautiful celebration with you.

Meet Annie & Daniel | Annie and Daniel met at a ‘70’s’ themed 50th birthday party of a mutual friend and recently tied the knot in a dreamy Australian ceremony. Daniel is an Operator at a gas plant in Port Campbell and Annie works as a Hand / Occupational Therapist.

The Proposal | Dan proposed on his birthday (one way to take the attention off yourself!). We went out for breakfast and then went for a walk along our favourite beach. It’s actually a nudist beach but we had never seen anyone nude there before, however this particular morning there was, just to add to the romance!

Finding ‘The One’ | I’ve always loved Anna Campbell dresses, and have followed the Anna Campbell Instagram page for years. During the height of the COVID19 pandemic there was only a limited number of places you could go for dress shopping and Anna Campbell was #1 on my list. Luckily for me I found my dress there and didn’t need to look anywhere else.

The Wanda Dress | My dress was the first one I tried on. I took a photo with me as I knew I would want to try that one, but also wanted to try a variety to see what suited my body type. I actually really loved 2 or 3 of the dresses I tried on there but there was something special about the Wanda Dress. I wanted a dress with a lot of personality without being a big silhouette. So I love the simplicity of the Wanda silhouette with the amazing hand beaded fabric and draped sleeves it ticked so many of my boxes. I also had buttons added down the back which I have always really loved the look of.

I purchased my dress from the Armadale store. As mentioned, I was dress shopping in the height of the 2020 COVID19 pandemic, and that meant I couldn’t take any of my bridesmaids or family with me dress shopping!! I was so lucky that the staff at Anna Campbell still made it such a special and memorable experience. I could have my sister and mum on face time and it was funny hearing their reactions as I tried on different dresses. Plus I was the only customer allowed in the store so I had full reign and could strut around looking at the dresses in different lighting.

I had my fittings with Gina in Brunswick and that experience was also a really positive one. Every time I tried on the dress I felt amazing and it made me so excited. Gina was great and very detail focused.

At about 2pm on the day of our wedding the Victorian government announced that as of 11.59 that night everybody had to be at home for a 5 day snap lockdown. We just snuck it in in time. Though a little stressful waiting to hear about the restrictions, in the end it gave our day a really “lucky” feel to it. We had our first dance with all of our guests on the dance floor with us to “Get On The Beers” by Mashd N Kutcher in tribute to all of the crazy things that happened while planning our wedding during a pandemic. The benefit of going into lockdown the next day was that nobody had anything else to do like work or other commitments, so everyone let loose.

A special shout out to all of our vendors who were having a stressful day trying to console (understandably) very upset couples who had their weddings cancelled for the days after ours, but didn’t let that impact on the fun we had for our day/night!

How I felt wearing my Dress | I felt amazing! I never wanted to take it off!! Also didn’t want to take off my veil (also from Anna Campbell) but I kept stepping on it on the dance floor!!! I loved the buttons, the sleeve, the silhouette, the hand beaded fabric, the sparkle, the veil…. Literally every part of it!

Words of Wisdom | Pick your vendors carefully, give them a brief, and then put your trust in them to do their thing. This is what they do, and they are sooo good at it!! Every decision we let our vendors make for us was perfect and having trust in them meant I could relax on the day knowing I had an amazing team behind the scenes so I didn’t have to worry about a thing!

We had all of our couple photos on site at Rocklea as well as our ceremony and reception. It really is a venue that has it all, with so many versatile options. No matter how it’s set up- it’s beautiful. We fell in love with the venue from our very first visit.
