8 Need to Knows when finding the perfect veil

8 Need to Knows to find the perfect wedding veil

To veil or not to veil? It’s often the ultimate tricky question for our brides, and it will always be a personal decision for you to make.

However, so often it’s the brides who say they don’t think a veil is for them who ultimately fall in love with the romance of a soft tulle veil at their final appointment!

For us, the decision is simple. When else do you get to wear such a dramatic and romantic accessory! And let’s not forget the beautiful photo opportunities they create. A veil is so often the finishing touch that creates that “Omg, I’m a bride!” moment when you’re standing in your dress. It’s the little detail that is guaranteed to bring a tear to your mum’s eye!

Our very own Anna told us that "when I put on a veil, I instantly feel a little more special and excited! I also think that your wedding day is your only chance to wear a veil, and a train, so don’t miss out! Even if you never plan on wearing one, they really are so fun to try on..."

The trick is to choose a veil that is going to create softness and add romance to your bridal look, not a style that is going to detract in any way from your dress (you love it too much for that!)

So what are your Need to Knows about finding the perfect veil?

1. Do Certain veils go with certain dresses?

Yes! And no! Confused? Well, the short answer is that when we released our latest collection, we also created three special lace-trimmed veils designed specifically to match dresses from the Eternal Heart Collection. These are the Alyssa, Eleanor and Savannah Veils, designed to pair beautifully with their namesake dresses!

But we also created the plain, sheer tulle Zara Veil (one of our go-to favourites for her circular design that sits softly on your shoulders) to join the Ashantha plain tulle veil (a traditional sheer tulle veil that is rectangular in design, so it can flow beautifully behind you). As these beauties are made from a plain, light-weight tulle, they will fit right in with almost any wedding dress.

2. What is a blusher?

A blusher is the additional, shorter piece of tulle that can be worn over your face for the wedding ceremony. Some brides love this more traditional option, others choose a blusher simply to add volume and fullness to their veil, so it can be a beautiful option even if you wear it off your face all day!

All Anna Campbell veils can be made to order both with and without a blusher.

3. How long are your veils? Does my veil need to match my train?

Our veils are designed in Fingertip and Chapel lengtha:

Fingertip veil
Veil length = 135cm (53 inches)

Fingertip veil with blusher
Veil length = 140cm (55 inches)
Blusher = 85cm (33 inches)

Chapel veil
Veil length = 215cm (85inches)

Chapel veil with blusher
Veil length = 215cm (85 inches)
Blusher = 85cm (33 inches)

While the majority of our brides choose the chapel length option, it will always depend on your dress, and your unique style! Your veil doesn't need to be the same length as the train of your dress, and because our veils are made from a very sheer tulle, all of the detail of your dress will still be visible and beautiful through the veil tulle.

4. Can I still wear a headpiece?

Yes! In fact most of our brides will choose to pair their veil with either a hand-beaded headpiece or a sparkly, embellished comb.

Simply place your embellished comb or headpiece over the top of your veil. After the ceremony and photos, you can simply take the veil out, leaving your beautiful headpiece or comb in place for the reception!

5. How long do I wear my veil for?

This is entirely up to you, but most of our brides will choose to take their veils out after the ceremony and wedding photography is complete.

This way you can focus on a beautiful beaded headpiece or hair comb for your reception look!

6. I love the back detail of my dress! Will my veil not cover this?

We love those details too, and we definitely don’t want them covered up! That’s why we have worked so hard to source the finest and sheerest veil tulle available from suppliers all around the world!

Not only does this mean all of your beautiful dress will be visible, but our veils are also incredibly soft and feel ultra-luxurious against your skin.
